A Guide On How To Work With Us 

At Semper Floreat, we are a small team of students who are passionate about student journalism and creativity. We are excited to have you join our team of contributors! 

1. Initial Contact + Proposal 

Congratulations – you’ve already completed the first step! By expressing your interest to us in contributing, we can add your email to our contributors network mailing list. This way, you can keep up to date with our internal schedules, events, and competitions. 

2. Concept Proposal or Initial Submission 

You’re always welcome to send us your ideas before you write or create anything to semper@uqu.com.au. Otherwise, feel free to start! We just ask that all written work stay around the 700 word mark – please reach out for confirmation from our team if you need more space! Our contributors pretty much have creative freedom, however, if your topic may be deemed sensitive or triggering, it may be best to get confirmation from our team before starting. 

3. Submit Your Work 

Send your work through to semper@uqu.com.au. If it is a written piece, please ensure it is in a Word Document format, not PDF. Include your student number, first and last name, and send it from your student email. 

4. Internal Editing + Formatting 

Our team of editors will determine if your work will be included in the next edition of Semper Floreat. If not, no worries! We will reach out with a few pointers on how to rewrite it for publication, or file it for future editions. Your work will undergo an internal editing and formatting process. If you have specific directions of how you’d like your work displayed, please include this in your submission email. 

5. Collect Your Copy of Semper Floreat! 

The newly released edition of Semper will be available for collection outside Union Complex at St Lucia campus, as well as online. Enjoy seeing your work in person!
